Sites": "From 1981 to 1987, Meijer operated seven Meijer
Square general merchandise stores here. It closed the stores in order to
concentrate on its hypermarket format. The old Meijer stores were
acquired by Zayre's, which was acquired by Ames. The stores were closed
last year as part of Ames' bankruptcy reorganization. Officials at
Meijer could not be reached for comment."

took over 14 Twin Fair stores in 1981 and converted them to Meijer
Square department stores. After deciding in September 1986 to pull out
