Lisle
Meijer Superstore and How It Will Affect You
Information
- What is the Lisle
Meijer? If built, it would be 215,000 square feet (almost 2 Home
Depots), open 24 hours a day — 7 days a week with 50 cash
registers & 1,100 parking spaces, a gas station, and 3
additional outlot stores. The Lisle Meijer would be 6,000 square
feet larger than the Bolingbrook Meijer.
- Meijer sells items
such as BB guns, black powder, air rifles, and ammunition.
- Schools located within
1 mile of the proposed site are Steeple Run Elementary, Kennedy Jr.
High School, and Benet High School.
- The proposed Meijer
site was planned for Public/ Institutional use in Lisle’s 1995
Land Use Plan, consistent with decades of planning.
- Meijer is far beyond
the scope of Public/ Institutional use which suggests far less
intrusive uses.
- If built, Meijer will
be the only superstore on Chicago Avenue/ Maple Avenue/ 55th Street
and easily be the largest free-standing store of its kind in DuPage
County.
- The Village has spent
thousands of taxpayer dollars to force gasoline service stations to
locate only at major intersections — until Meijer.
