Average East/West Traffic on Maple
Daily Vehicle Counts and Projections

Source: Illinois Dept. of Transportation Data Bank
** Trip Generation 6th Edition study reveals projected impact of "superstore" like Meijer is an additional 10,000 cars per day (published 1997 by the Institute of Transportation Engineers). With gas station, outlot stores and "Lot 6" expect 8,000 cars entering and exiting site each day, adding 16,000 "car trips" on Maple.
  • Meijer to push Maple average vehicle counts above capacity - an additional 16,000 vehicle trips per day - 364 days a year
  • All truck traffic will access Meijer using I-355-Maple or Rt. 53-Maple
  • Meijer patrons north and south of Maple will cut through residential areas to avoid a clogged Maple
  • Maple Avenue (4 lane street) current capacity is 25,000 cars per day
  • Within 1 mile of the proposed site, there is an elementary school, a junior high school, a high school, and a university
